Our Great Strides Story
Welcome to the 2018 Great Strides Walk page for Team Unum Chattanooga.
In Chattanooga, Unum employees have been walking to help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis for over 10 years and we won’t stop until we find a cure for CF*. Unum is also a National Corporate team with Unum Employees walking across many campuses/field offices. We do this because some of our Unum peers have a love one diganosed with CF.
There isn’t a walking fee. Through Unum's participation Gift program, Unum will donate $50 to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for each employee that comes to walk.
The Great Strides walk is a fun, Family-Friendly event that raises awareness and support for people with Cystic Fibrosis and their families.
The walk is at Baylor School, on Sunday, April 29th. Registration begins at 1:00 PM, Walk Starts at 2:00 PM
Unum has been a major contributor to the success of the Chattanooga Great Strides walk.
In recent years, Unum has increased its commitment to help find a cure by participating as a National Corporate Team.
Last year, Unum was recognized at the Annual Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Volunteer conference and received the Spirit of American award for their continue support!
Fundraising for CF is crucial because government funding doesn’t exist. Any steps or advances we make toward finding a cure - and we’re getting close to finding that cure - are because of people like you!
*Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-threatening genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. An estimated 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide) have CF. In people with CF, a defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that: Clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections, obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down food and absorb vital nutrients.
