Cystic Fibrosis is a rare, genetic and life-shortening disease that affects the respiratory and digestive systems. There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with Cystic Fibrosis who struggle every day just to breathe. We walk for them, and for our own little heroes, Juniper and Joseph. Juniper Day was born in July 2017 and diagnosed with CF when she was 5 weeks old. Her little brother, Joseph Walker, joined us a year and a half later and quickly showed symptoms of the disease as well, needing intestinal surgery for a CF-related complication at two days old. Already they have impacted and brought joy to the lives of so many people. Each day they show us the gift of life and the goodness of God. We are rallying behind them to find a cure for the disease they so bravely fight each day!
Incredible progress has been made in treatments for those living with CF, but there is still no cure for this devastating disease. We’ve come so far and have real hope and eagerness that a cure will be discovered within Juniper and Joseph’s lifetime. Will you consider joining our campaign to help make this a reality?
Great Strides is a family-friendly 5K walk taking place this year at Doko Meadows in Blythewood on May 4. It is such a fun opportunity to educate our community about CF and raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s research. We would love for you to join our team by raising funds and walking alongside us on May 4. You can also take part from afar by donating to any of our team members or joining a Great Strides walk near you. To learn more about Cystic Fibrosis and all that the Foundation is doing, visit www.cff.org. And feel free to contact us with any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are so very thankful for your support and your prayers!
Love, Steven, Kelly, Juniper & Joseph
"You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. 13 Instead of the thornbush will grow the juniper, and instead of briers the myrtle will grow. This will be for the Lord’s renown, for an everlasting sign, that will endure forever.”
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."
Important note on Attendance at Foundation Events:
Infections can exacerbate CF symptoms and worsen lung function, so we ask attendees at Foundation-sponsored events to observe the following best practices to reduce the risk of germ transmission:
Regularly wash hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel.
Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your inner elbow.
Maintain a safe 6-foot distance from anyone with a cold or infection.
To further reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation’s attendance policy recommends that all people with CF maintain a safe 6-foot distance from each other at all times while attending an outdoor Foundation-sponsored event. All Great Strides walks are non-smoking events.
