The 2019 Central Oregon Great Strides Walk-a-thon for Cystic Fibrosis will be held June 8, 2019 at Sam Johnson Park in Redmond. Don't wait, donate today!
Jeff and I formed our first Great Strides team, Josephine's Heroes in 2009, honoring our beautiful granddaughter, Josephine Rae who was diagnosed with CF in 2008 when she was only 10 days old. There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends and co-workers who struggle every day just to breathe. We walk for all of them and hope you will support us in our efforts.
Today, looking at Josephine, her amazing personality, her love of life, it is hard to accept the battle her body is fighting. Gaining and maintaining weight is a challenge because the mucus prevents her digestive enzymes from breaking down fat and protein, and inhibits the absorption of vital nutrients. To combat this, she takes prescription enzymes with every meal and snack, up to 30 pills a day. She also does a series of respiratory treatments to loosen the mucus in her lungs to keep bacteria from growing and causing irreversible lung damage.
Real progress has been made in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease. By walking today, we are helping add tomorrows to the lives of people living with cystic fibrosis. Will you join us? Support us by making a donation to our Great Strides fundraising campaign today!
Yours for a Cure,
Jeff & Leslie Clark
