Welcome to the 3 Mile Minnies Team Page!
The 3 Mile Minnies is a team dedicated to Melissa Siik. Melissa is a wife and mother of four young children. She holds a Ph.D. in English Literature and Melissa also has cystic fibrosis.
Growing up, Melissa was told that her breathing difficulties and chronic cough were the result of asthma. It wasn’t until after the birth of her first child in 2008 that she was finally diagnosed with a rare form of cystic fibrosis.
Even though she may not “look sick” on the outside, those of us close to her know that Melissa struggles every day just to breathe. Her regimen of medications and breathing treatments consumes hours of her day everyday. This past year has not been an easy one for Melissa’s health. Challenges including multiple exacerbations and a battle with an epic case of hives caused by an allergic reaction to a medicine that was actually improving her breathing.
Through all the struggles and the pain, Melissa is a true warrior and an inspiration to us all. Somehow, she manages to demonstrate a pure grace throughout all the medicines, treatments, doctor’s appointments, multiple hospital stays and procedures.
The money that the 3 Mile Minnies team raises will go directly to the CF foundation and will help fund research, treatments and supportive services for people battling cystic fibrosis, including Melissa.
If you would like to join our team and help support the approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis, click on the "Join our Team" button. From there you can make a donation and start your fundraising.

Great Strides is a fun, family-friendly event that raises awareness and support for people with CF and their families.

Important note on Attendance at Foundation Events:
Infections can exacerbate CF symptoms and worsen lung function, so we ask attendees at Foundation-sponsored events to observe the following best practices to reduce the risk of germ transmission:
To further reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation’s attendance policy recommends that all people with CF maintain a safe 6-foot distance from each other at all times while attending an outdoor Foundation-sponsored event. All Great Strides walks are non-smoking events.
