Welcome to my Page
My name is Lance Kennedy and I love to ride bicycles. It's one of my biggest passions and I'm very very grateful that I'm able to do this. I hope I can ride bicycles for the rest of my life or until somebody stops me from doing so. It's an addiction.
In 2014 a friend of mine, Pat Ryan, asked me to participate in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Cycle for Life in Half Moon Bay. It was a couple of days before the event he mentioned the ride was around 65 miles and would be traversing one of the best places on earth to ride a bicycle. How could I say no. It was one of the best things I have ever done in my life.
Of course I came back in 2015 and it was equally impactful on me as the previous year and now I'm back in 2016 and every year to come until they find a cure for this vicious disease. And they will. Huge strides are made every day and every day is a day closer for these folks and their families.
I ride for the EJ's in the memory of a young girl who lost her battle with cystic fibrosis. Her name was Emma Jane (EJ) Kingston and she was 20 years old. She was 20 years old and I ride for her and all of the others who have CF. Rides like this give me an opportunity to reflect on my life and how grateful I am to have the life that I do. It also provides me an opportunity to work together as a team with a common cycling goal. We cross the start line together and we do everything in our ability to finish together. This is not a race for me. It's an opportunity to build fellowship while managing the suffering that comes with cycling on courses like this. We all process this suffering in our own way.
There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends and co-workers who struggle every day just to breathe. I ride for them and hope you will support me in my efforts.
Real progress has been made in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease. By cycling, I am helping add tomorrows to the lives of people living with cystic fibrosis. Will you join me? Support me by making a donation to my CF Cycle for Life fundraising campaign today!
The CF Cycle for Life is a unique event that empowers cyclists to take action and demonstrate their fight in finding a cure for cystic fibrosis in a tangible, emotional and powerful way.
