Welcome to my Page
One year ago, my beautiful daughter, Carrie, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. I must admit it was a tremendous shock to my family and friends. It took me the better part of 2 months just to wrap my head around the implications of this devastating disease. Several days after riding in my first Cycle for Life event, my family was dealt another blow. Three months and six days after Carrie's diagnosis, my son Aidan, was also dianosed with cystic fibrosis, sharing the same severe mutations as his sister. I cannot begin to tell you how difficult this year has been. Imagine, for a moment, all of the worst feelings you've ever had in your life, despair, anger, frustration, sadness, hopelessness, depression, I had them all. What were we going to do and how can we take any more? Those feelings didn't do much for anyone, so I had to rid that negativity, from my mind, rather quickly. We've all heard the saying "life is not fair", well it surely does seem to be a accurate statement. So where do we go from here? The goal remains the same and that is to find a cure for all that are suffering with CF. Through my children's suffering, it has made me aware of how many are truly affected by the same disease.
I now turn to all of you and I need your help again. Through your generousity, last year, we were able to raise over $8000.00, in about 3 weeks time (truly incredible). My initial goal, last year, was $1000.00, but I had to keep raising that limit because of the outpouring of love and support. I was so blown away by the support my family received. You are the ones that give us hope. I'd really like to smash the $8000.00 goal and am certain that we can do it. Please contribute if you are able and no donation is too small. If you are unable to contribute monitarily, please keep all of those, with CF, in your prayers. Last year I completed the 50 mile course, but this year will be extra special. The plan is that Carrie and I will be doing the 25 mile course, on a tandem bicycle we are loaning from a friend. I'm looking for a few other team members too, if you are interested. Please help us in acheiving a cure for CF. "Dum Spiro Spero"
There are approximately 30,000 people living in the United States with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends and co-workers who struggle every day just to breathe. I ride for them, and hope that you will support me in my efforts.
Although tremendous progress has been made in the search for a permanent cure for cystic fibrosis, the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease. By cycling, I am helping add tomorrows to the lives of all people living with cystic fibrosis. Will you join me? Support me by making a donation to my CF Cycle for Life fundraising campaign today!
CF Cycle for Life is a unique event that empowers cyclists to take action and demonstrate their fight in finding a cure for cystic fibrosis in a tangible, yet emotional way.
