My CF Climb Story
Hi my name is Kennedy. I am eleven years old, almost twelve. I was born with Cystic Fibrosis. I am trying to raise money to find a cure for CF.
Cystic Fibrosis is more than a lung disease, it's a disease that causes problems with my liver, my pancreas, my intestinal tract, and my lungs. Overall, my cells don't transfer salt like they are supposed to and because of this my lungs and intestinal tract are get this sticky mucous that is a great place for bacterial to grow.
I have been on different types of antibiotics since the beginning of April and the doctors are worried as my lung function has been decreasing. I feel better than I did a few weeks ago and hope that my lung function is returning to normal. If it’s not, they will admit me to the hospital for a round of intravenous antibiotics. Luckily if I have to do this, I can do this early in the summer and won't have to miss the YMCA and dance camp this summer.
On July 21st, I will be climbing stairs with my friends and family to raise money to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. I want to imagine a life where the kids who come after me will not need to work so hard to breath each day. And I can only do this with the help of people like you who generously donate money to find a cure.
