About CF Climb

The Portland Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge is a competitive chip-timed race up 40 floors and 800 steps of the U.S. Bancorp Tower aka “Big Pink.”

Firefighter participants are outfitted in over 70lbs of full “combat gear” including Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) commonly used in the line of duty. Non-firefighter participants will compete in regular athletic gear. Participants compete for individual titles in both men’s and women’s categories.

In addition, climbers compete to raise funds in the battle against cystic fibrosis. Since 2009, over a thousand firefighters from across the country and around the world have raised over $1.2 million in the fight against cystic fibrosis through the Portland Firefighter Stairclimb. Let’s make “CF” stand for “Cure Found!
