This is our fourth year participating in Great Strides. The first year we had three people walk and raised $300. Year two we had 40 people walk and and raised $2,800. Year three we had 44 people walk and raised $16,726!!!! This years goals are to have 53 people walk, raise more awareness, and help make cf=cure found.
2018 was a great year for Team Blue Coast. We participated in all three events our chapter hosts. We were the only team in the state of Florida to have someone with cf stride, climb, and cycle for a cure!
2018 also had some challenges for our cf strong Team leader Shannan. She was hospitalized in June, diagnosed with CFRD (Cystic Fibrosis related diabetes), and saw some noticeable lung function decline.
Team Blue Coasts mission in 2019 is to not only raise money for a cure but to spread the importance of invisible illnesses, and to make them visible. When you listen with not only your ears, but your eyes, and your heart you can see and hear things you never dreamed possible.
We hope you can join us April 13th at Frank Rendon Park in Daytona Beach Shores at 5 p.m. for Great Strides 2019!
Checks can be made out to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and mailed to us at:
Blue Coast Shop 3110 S. Atlantic Avenue Daytona Beach Shores, FL 32118
Thank you for your continued support,
Kelly and Shannan
Team Blue Coast
Join our team and help add tomorrows!
There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends and co-workers who struggle every day just to breathe. We walk for them. Will you join us? All we need you to do to become a member of our team is click on the "Join our Team" button. From there you can make a donation and start your fundraising.
By becoming a member of our team and making a donation, you are joining a growing group of people committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis. Together, we are adding tomorrows to the lives of people living with CF by supporting the search for a cure.
Great Strides is a fun, family-friendly event that raises awareness and support for people with CF and their families.
Important note on Attendance at Foundation Events:
Infections can exacerbate CF symptoms and worsen lung function, so we ask attendees at Foundation-sponsored events to observe the following best practices to reduce the risk of germ transmission:
Regularly wash hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel.
Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your inner elbow.
Maintain a safe 6-foot distance from anyone with a cold or infection.
To further reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation’s attendance policy recommends that all people with CF maintain a safe 6-foot distance from each other at all times while attending an outdoor Foundation-sponsored event. All Great Strides walks are non-smoking events.
