Kate's Krew is walking in the Great Strides event on Saturday, May 19th, at 10 am. The walk will take place at the River Woods Park in Auburn Hills, MI. Please help us meet our fundraising goal of $60,000 by sponsoring or joining us at the walk.
In the last year, Kate's condition has been stable with no significant lung function or weight issues. Kate's current lung function is about 70%, which is average for someone with CF. We are hopeful that the new drugs being developed, will help improve Kate's lung function even more Luckily, Kate has not been hospitalized and has been able to enjoy her last year of middle school (8th grade), playing soccer and spending time with her friends.
We recently returned from the CFF Volunteer Leadership Conference in San Diego. It was a wonderful conference where volunteers from all over the country gather to learn, share fundraising ideas and receive medical updates from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Leadership. We learned one drugs in the pipeline called "triple combination" should be available in 2020. This drug is specific to Kate's genetic mutations and has proven through trials to significantly improve lung function and weight in CF patients. We cannot wait for the day Kate can start taking this drug!!!
The TRIPLE COMBINATION is how your donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation are making a difference!! The CFF can only continue to make progress with financial support from people like you. Making a donation to our team is easy and secure! Just click on the "Donate to Me" button to make a 100% tax free donation to our fundraising page and your contribution will be credited to our team. No donation is too small and is tax deductible! Also, in an effort to surpass our fundraising goal, we would appreciate you sending our link to family or friends that you think would be interested in making a donation. Lastly, if you wish to send us a check, please make it payable to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF).
As always, we are grateful for your continued love and support for Kate! Thank you for helping us add tomorrow's!!
Important note on Attendance at Foundation Events:
Infections can exacerbate CF symptoms and worsen lung function, so we ask attendees at Foundation-sponsored events to observe the following best practices to reduce the risk of germ transmission:
Regularly wash hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel.
Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your inner elbow.
Maintain a safe 6-foot distance from anyone with a cold or infection.
To further reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation’s attendance policy recommends that all people with CF maintain a safe 6-foot distance from each other at all times while attending an outdoor Foundation-sponsored event. All Great Strides walks are non-smoking events.
